Thématique générale de l'équipe :
Les recherches s’orientent vers les processus responsables d’un déséquilibre démographique (invasion, déclin, voire extinction), en considérant à la fois le cas des espèces rares et celui des espèces encore bien représentées. Cette approche conjointe doit aider à comprendre le devenir de chaque type d’espèces, et à cerner la priorité à leur accorder selon l’objectif fixé.

Pour expliquer et prédire la résistance à l’extinction des populations, les interactions entre les paramètres biologiques fondamentaux des individus et les processus génétiques et démographiques en œuvre dans les populations sont étudiées (les résultats de cette intégration démo-génétique peuvent influencer les méthodes de gestion des petites populations). L'analyse du devenir des métapopulations (notamment dans la perspective de réintroductions ou de renforcements) porte notamment sur le rôle de la connexion entre populations (in ou ex-situ).

Dans le cas des espèces communes, il s’agit de développer les suivis de populations, en proposant des protocoles aux réseaux d’observateurs, d’analyser ces données, afin de caractériser le devenir d’un cortège de populations à des échelles larges, en intégrant le concept d’indicateur de l’état des communautés, de générer des scénarios précisant l’impact des sociétés humaines sur le devenir de ces populations.

Chez les Arthropodes, des hormones stéroïdes particulières, les ecdystéroïdes, contrôlent le développement et la reproduction. Des molécules voisines, les phytoecdystéroïdes, sont également synthétisées par de nombreuses espèces deplantes, qu’elles protègent contre les insectes phytophages.

Notre objectif principal est l’étude de la voie de biosynthèse des ecdystéroïdes et de sa régulation chez différentes espèces d’Arthropodes, en particulier la Drosophile ainsi qu’une étude comparative réalisée chez diverses espèces végétales.

Biologie intégrée et évolutive des organismes marins : évolution des biominéralisations, écophysiologie et évolution des régulations endocriniennes, symbioses bactériennes, phylogénie.L'analyse des relations phylogénétiques chez différents invertébrés et vertébrés (mollusques, crustacés, poissons, ...) est envisagée par des approches qui associent l'étude de certains processus fonctionnels et l'analyse des structures moléculaires.  Il s'agit, sur des espèces choisies pour leur position phylogénétique ou leurs particularités biologiques, de révéler et analyser certains processus en relation avec l'histoire évolutive, tels que l’évolution et le rôle adaptatif des systèmes neuro-endocriniens, l’évolution des biominéralisations ou la coévolution des hôtes avec des bactéries symbiotiques.Publications récentes représentatives des recherches en cours (rang A)

Thématique générale de l'équipe :

Variabilité environnementale, ressources et dynamique spatio-temporelle des populations et communautés de vertébrés.Cette station de terrain en biologie évolutive effectue des recherches sur les stratégies biodémographiques d’un élément clé de la biodiversité, les vertébrés (oiseaux, mammifères et reptiles). L’objectif central du programme est de comprendre les causes de variations de la « fitness » des individus à travers une compréhension de leurs stratégies d’acquisition et d’allocation des ressources. Au niveau des populations il s’agit de comprendre les mécanismes qui causent des changements à court et à long terme (notamment en rélation avec les changements globaux) dans la distribution et l’abondance des animaux avec des rôles écologiques importants dans les écosystèmes terrestres ou marins et/ou en risque d’extinction. Des programmes de recherche sont menés en milieu polaire, tropicale et tempéré.

Au cours des trois dernières années, les travaux de l’équipe se sont inscrits sur quatre registres :

§      Dynamique des populations : Conditions environnementales pour la synchronisation des populations. Influence du système de reproduction sur le risque d’extinction. Effet de la stochasticité démographique sur la dynamique des grandes populations régulées.§      Evolution de la coopération : Facteurs écologiques de l’évolution des interactions sociales et des mutualismes. Evolution des intérêts privés et des biens communs ; notion de liaisons dangereuses. Application à l’évolution et à la diversification des systèmes de communication.§      Expérimentation : Dispersion et coopération chez un Lézard. Génétique et plasticité des stratégies démographiques chez un microarthropode. Dynamique adaptative des populations d’une bactérie. Evolution de la dispersion et du système de reproduction chez un cilié.§      Outils de simulations numériques : logiciel ZEN pour la modélisation des processus d’évolution adaptative.

Ces travaux soulignent « l’unité dans la diversité » des processus écologiques et évolutifs qui opèrent à tous les niveaux d’organisation du vivant. En conséquences, nos recherches s’orientent naturellement vers l’étude de l’interaction de ces processus entre niveaux d’organisation. La construction mathématique d’approximations macroscopiques (de type « dynamiques adaptatives ») demeure un problème central. Les modèles seront étendus de manière à intégrer la diversité des mécanismes de variation dans un environnement incertain. Nos organismes d’étude reflètent une large gamme de niveaux d’organisation (ADN-proteines, cellules et organismes unicellulaires, organismes multicellulaires, sociétés, systèmes culturels) entre lesquels s’exprime une question commune, celle de l’origine et du maintien de « liaisons dangereuses » où s’affrontent intérêts privés et biens communs. Dans la lignée des travaux accomplis, les mathématiques développées seront motivées par leurs applications potentielles à la gestion des systèmes vivants (développement durable, gestion des risques épidémiologiques, pharmacothérapie), dans un contexte adaptatif où l’évolution peut être facteur de contrôle autant que source de menaces.

Thématique générale de l'équipe :

Impacts des différentes forces évolutives sur l'évolution du pool génique des populations humaines pour : (1) retracer l'histoire du peuplement dans certaines régions du monde avec une application en épidémiologie génétique et(2) mesurer l'intensité de la sélection naturelle.Ces recherches sont basées sur l’analyse de données moléculaires et généalogiques ainsi que sur des simulations de scénarios historiques et évolutifs. . Nous développons des méthodes d’analyse basées sur la théorie de la coalescence. Nos études de terrains sont sur les populations de nomades et sédentaires de l’Asie Centrale et sur les populations Pygmées d’Afrique Centrale. Thématique générale de l'équipe

L’équipe d’accueil CNRS-IRD-UVSQ rassemble des compétences complémentaires autour d’un thème fédérateur, l’écologie génétique et comportementale et la génomique évolutive des insectes endoptérygotes, principalement dans la région afrotropicale. L’équipe a une connaissance approfondie du matériel biologique tropical et une longue expérience dans cette région biogéographique. Les domaines de compétence des membres de l’équipe relèvent de plusieurs disciplines : systématique, écologie évolutive, biogéographie, modes de spéciation, phylogénie, phylogéographie, génétique des populations, éthologie, sélection sexuelle. L’équipe s’appuie sur des approches communes–polymorphisme des marqueurs moléculaires, comparaison de séquences, morphométrie -, des outils communs–marqueurs moléculaires : microsatellites, gènes mitochondriaux, gènes nucléaires, et maîtrise l’ensemble des méthodes de traitements de données en reconstruction phylogénétique (parcimonie, distance, maximum de vraisemblance). Nous cherchons par exemple : - à comprendre les relations qui peuvent éventuellement exister entre la spéciation et la sélection sexuelle, entre la sélection-sexuelle et l’adaptation, entre la variation des gènes et le climat ; - à déterminer les rôles respectifs de l'isolement géographique et de la ségrégation écologique dans la diversification de certains groupes d’insectes phytophages ;–à caractériser les facteurs d’hétérogénéité spatiale des interactions plantes –insectes - parasitoïdes en Afrique tropicale ; - à comprendre l’effet de la fragmentation de la forêt afrotropicale sur la structuration écologique et génétique des populations subdivisées ; - à retracer l’histoire évolutive de l’abeille domestique.

Thématique générale de l'équipe :

Le projet de recherche de l'équipe se situe à l’interface entre écologie des communautés et écologie des écosystèmes. Les chercheurs et enseignants-chercheurs (Luc Abbadie, Isabelle Dajoz, Patricia Genet, Jacques Gignoux, Florence Hulot, Gérard Lacroix, Michel Lepage, Michel Loreau, Eric Michel) ont pour objectif commun d'étudier les interactions entre le fonctionnement des écosystèmes et l'organisation, le maintien et l'évolution de la biodiversité. Cette équipe se caractérise par une forte volonté d'intégration des processus œuvrant à différentes échelles de complexité biologique et par un couplage étroit entre les approches de modélisation et les travaux expérimentaux sur les différents systèmes étudiés, qu'ils soient terrestres ou aquatiques. Les thématiques que les membres de l'équipe privilégient actuellement se structurent selon trois axes principaux : (1) diversité des réseaux d'interactions et fonctionnement des écosystèmes, (2) contraintes stœchiométriques, disponibilité des nutriments et fonctionnement des écosystèmes, (3) structuration des habitats, conséquences sur la stabilité à long terme et la diversité des processus écosystémiques.

Au sein de chaque thème, de nombreux projets explorent l'intégration d'aspects adaptatifs et évolutifs dans l’analyse des liens entre processus écosystémiques et organisation des communautés. Ce point deviendra une composante forte et fédératrice au niveau de l'équipe de l'analyse des liens entre biodiversité et fonctionnement des écosystèmes. De manière générale, l'ensemble des projets peut être inclu dans une thématique principale reliant la diversité des réseaux d'interactions (trophiques, compétitives, mutualistes, allélopathiques) au fonctionnement des écosystèmes et des communautés. Les recherches sur les propriétés émergentes en termes de fonctionnement des écosystèmes prennent en compte des contraintes environmentales variées: (1) contraintes liées à la stœchiométrie et à l'énergétique des processus écosystémiques, (2) contraintes dues à la fragmentation et à la structure spatiale des habitats, (3) contraintes de type perturbations (par exemple écotoxicologiques) et fluctuations environnementales.

Thèmes de recherche de l’équipe :

- Evolution du plan d’organisation et gènes de développement des Arthropodes : recherches centrées notamment sur des questions d’homologies entre régions du système nerveux central, sur des modèles appartenant aux chélicérates (scorpion, tégénaire) et aux pycnogonides, à partir de l’étude de gènes tels que les Hox, Otd, Ems, hedgehog.

- Origine et évolution des neurones et du système nerveux à la base de l’arbre des métazoaires : projet faisant l’objet de financements ACI et Gis Génomique obtenus en 2003, débuté il y a un an, et destiné à focaliser à court terme tout le potentiel de l’équipe. Des homologues de gènes contrôlant les différentes étapes de la neurogenèse et de la construction du système nerveux chez les Bilateria, sont recherchés chez un cténaire (Pleurobrachia) et en parallèle chez un cnidaire (Clytia). Ces deux lignées sont les premières à se détacher, à la base de l’arbre des eumétazoaires, après l’origine du système nerveux. On espère à travers cette approche Evo-Devo, combinée à un projet de résolution de la phylogénie de la base des métazoaires à partir de séquences d’EST, mieux comprendre les premières étapes de l’évolution du système nerveux

Thématique générale de l'équipe :

L’activité a pour objectif de caractériser les mécanismes sous-tendant les réponses des insectes forestiers aux changements environnementaux et d’origine anthropique. On s’intéresse particulièrement aux invasions biologiques en milieu forestier et aux conséquences des changements climatiques sur l’aire de répartition des insectes. Les études concernent notamment la diversité génétique et la structuration des populations invasives et non-invasives d’insectes de différentes guildes, et ses variations au cours du temps, les mécanismes de changements d’hôtes, ainsi que la modélisation de la dynamique d’invasion(fronts d’expansion).

Thématique générale de l’équipe :

 Etude des mécanismes et processus impliqués dans l'Evolution des Complexes d'espèces de plantes. L'objectif finalisé qui découle de ces recherches est de comprendre la dynamique de l'Agro-Biodiversité et de contribuer à la formulation de stratégies raisonnées de Conservation et de valorisation durable des Ressources Génétiques.

-Dynamique de la Diversité dans les Complexes d'espèces (Structuration, Flux de gènes, introgressions entre formes sauvages et cultivées, impacts des pressions anthropiques ; perception des formes sauvages , sélections paysannes).

-Bases génétiques et Moléculaires des différences phénotypiques entre formes sauvages et  domestiquées (Détection et cartographie comparée de QTL; Approche gènes candidats: clonage et séquençage de gènes impliqués dans le syndrome de domestication, Analyse du polymorphisme moléculaire).

-Différenciation et dynamique du génome chez les Poaceae.

Thématique générale de l'équipe :

L'objectif scientifique de l’équipe EGPM est de comprendre le fonctionnement et l’évolution des espèces marines animales et végétales, notamment dans des milieux fragilisés comme par exemple les milieux littoraux où se surajoutent de nombreuses pressions d’origine anthropique, ou les environnements 'extrêmes' tel que l'habitat hydrothermal profond. Cette problématique se situe à l’interface entre l’Ecologie et l’Evolution. L’ensemble des projets scientifiques développés par les membres de l’équipe nécessite une approche génétique basée sur l’utilisation de techniques de séquençage et de génotypage haut-débit développées dans le cadre du réseau d’excellence européen « Marine Genomics ».

Les différents thèmes de recherche développés au sein de l’équipe et leurs responsables sont résumés ci-dessous :’

2. Ecologie de la reproduction et traits d'histoire de vie (resp. Christophe Destombe)

3. Dispersion, phylogéographie et complexe d'espèces (resp. Myriam Valero)

4. Espèce côtières introduites et exploitées : diversité et évolution (équipe ATIP, resp. Frédérique Viard).

De plus, cette équipe coordonne le Laboratoire International Associé (LIA) Franco-Chilien « Dispersal and Adaptation of Marine Species » (DIAMS) qui regroupe une quarantaine de chercheurs provenant des deux pays. L’objectif de cette coopération scientifique multidisciplinaire est d’étudier en relation avec les changements climatiques et l’activité humaine, les processus biologiques affectant la distribution des espèces, les échanges génétiques, et la diversité au sein des zones marines côtières.

Thématique générale de l'équipe
l 'équipe Plancton Océanique s'intéresse tout particulièrement au plancton de très petite taille (le picoplancton <2-3 mm) qui domine la production et la biomasse des régions océaniques centrales, mais joue aussi un rôle important dans les écosystèmes côtiers.  Elle mène aussi des activités dans le domaine des espèces de plus grande taille responsables de prolifération (par exemple dinoflagellés). Nos travaux sont organisés autour de deux grands axes : Diversité et Écologie  et Génomes et adaptation.  Seul le premier axe est présenté ici, car il constitue l’équipe d’accueil de l’école doctorale Diversité du Vivant.

Diversité et Écologie. La diversité taxonomique du picoplancton eucaryote est encore très mal connue avec, au mieux, une quarantaine d'espèces décrites. Au cours des dernières années, nous avons appliqué des approches moléculaires qui ont révélé une diversité totalement insoupçonnée et l'existence de nouveaux groupes d'eucaryotes sans représentants en culture (Moon-van der Staay et al.  2001). En parallèle, nous avons développé des méthodes quantitatives (en particulier sondes oligonucleotidiques détectées par l'hybridation in situ) pour déterminer l'abondance des principaux taxons. L'application de ces méthodes a révélé que certains genres tels que Micromonas (Prasinophyceae) dominent le picoplancton eucaryote dans les milieux tempérés (Not et al. 2004). Nous nous orientons à présent sur la mise en œuvre de ces approches à grande échelle au niveau de l'océan mondial.
